Hsiu Norcott graduated from Taiwan Normal University with a degree in Fine Art . She was inspired to pursue art by her father’s calligraphy at very young age. She has studied the Royal Court Style of Classic Chinese painting that is more than 1000 years old under many masters for almost 50 years Her family has been in the textile business for many generations giving her extensive expertise in hand panting kimonos.
Hsiu moved to Hollis, New Hampshire in 2001, and has been a member of the Nashua Area Artists Association, the Hollis Art Society, and the New Hampshire Artists Association since 2011. She has received awards at many art shows, including the Juror’s Choice Award at Currier Museum in 2011.
In my paintings l combine the luxurious color of Japanese kimonos with unique Chinese brush stokes to give Chinese painting a modern look.
