Carefully read the following information before applying to exhibit in the gallery.
As a community gallery, the exhibitions are open to student, emerging and recognizedvisual artists who live or work/ed in Nashua, NH, or are members of the Nashua Area Arts Association or Hollis Arts Association. Selection will consider reflecting the demographics of Nashua, the most diverse city in New Hampshire.
All artists desiring to exhibit at the Sandy Cleary Community Art Gallery must submit this application form. The Sandy Cleary Community Art Gallery Selection Committee will evaluate all applications and select the artists to exhibit in the August rotation. The committee will forward the applications to the Nashua Area Artists Association to select the artists for the January December rotation. The April – July rotation is reserved for the student art exhibit.
Artwork must be two-dimensional and original to the artist. Each artist chosen will have approximately 10 x 4 linear feet of space to hang their art. Jpeg files of five representational works must be submitted with the application. Individual works cannot exceed 48 x 48 inches or be less than 8 x 10 inches including the frame. If selected to exhibit, the artist must submit jpeg files of all works for review by the selection committee two to four weeks before the exhibition. No artwork will be repositioned once hung, and all must remain in the exhibition until the end of the rotation. Artists must be available to assist in hanging and taking down their artwork on their assigned rotation dates in August and December.
All artwork must be appropriately framed completely ready for hanging from two wires on the rail hanging system. Frames must be in good condition, wired in the upper third of the frame with D-ring loops on the back (no screw eye hooks). Gallery-wrapped canvas is allowed but must be painted on all edges and stapled on the back of sturdy stretchers and wired with D- rings for hanging. All framed works on paper, pastel, watercolor, pen and ink, etc., must be protected by glass or Plexiglas. White or off-white mats are recommended.
There is no application fee, and no commissions will be charged for artwork sold from the exhibitions in the Sandy Cleary Community Art Gallery. A QR code in the gallery will link to the list of exhibiting artists on the Nashua Community Arts website, with contact information and the price of each piece. Any sales are arranged by the artist, but the artwork must remain in the exhibit until the end of the rotation.
Nashua Community Arts, Nashua Arts Commission, and Spectacle Live assume the right to photograph any work accepted into an exhibition for website listing and other publicity purposes.
The Sandy Cleary Community Art Gallery is in a public concourse open to the public when the Nashua Center for the Arts is open and is not staffed. All artists accepted must sign a Waiver of Liability for any loss or damage to their artwork. CLICK Here for Waiver
Applying to exhibit at the Sandy Cleary Community Art Gallery shall be understood as an agreement by the artist to all the terms and conditions above.
